Information Collection & Analysis for OROI Project in Namibia (Mar. - Jul. 2012)

The cereal crop self-sufficiency rate in Namibia is quite low, with the major industries of the country being mining (diamond, etc.), agriculture, livestock, forestry, and fishing. Namibia therefore depends heavily on imports of agricultural produce and processed products from South Africa. With the assistance of JICA, the Namibian government launched the One Region One Initiative (OROI) project in order to address economic structural issues such as the high youth unemployment rate and the economic disparity between urban and rural areas (especially in the north). Under contract with JICA, IMG collected relevant information and proposed an implementation framework to assist the Namibian government in implementing the project effectively and efficiently.
